Once there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy.

They were sent away from London during the war to the house of an old profeddor who lived in the heart of the country, ten miles from the nearest railway station and two miles from the nearest post office.

He had no wife and he lived in a very large house with a housekeeper and three servants.

They liked him almost at once; but on the first evening when he came out to meet them at the front door he was so odd-looking that Lucy(who was the youngest) was a little afraid of him.

As soon as they had said goodnight to the Professor and gone upstairs on the first night, the boys came into the girl's room and they all talked it over.

C.S.Lewis さん原作の、いわゆる「ナルニア国物語」のスタート巻は、最初に出版されました第２巻の、
｛THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE｝です。

おそらく、映画で見られた方が多いと思うのですが。

今回お出ししますのは、そのナルニア国物語最初の部分を、簡易に要約したものです(と言いましても、文はほとんど原文通りで、少し端折ったものです)。

簡易要約化に少し時間が掛かりますので、毎日ではなく、２日に１回ていどの、若干飛び飛びの形で連載する運びとさせていただきたいと思います。連載回数30回は、暫定的なものです。
