And so finally the prince was brought news of his wife.
He ran to the shore, loaded his gun, and shot the whale, releasing Trembling from the creature's spell.

From then on the cow-boy lived in the Prince's household, and when he came of age, he married Trembling's daughter.

They all lived happily, for many years, until Prince and Trembling died, contented, of old age.
