They arranged watches accordingly, and strove to divert Toad's mind into fresh cahnnels.
But his interest in other matters did not seen to revive, and he grew apparently languid and depressed.
One morning the Rat, whose turn it was to go on duty, went upstairs to relieve Badger.
" Toad's in bed, " said badger.
"Can't get much out of him, so look out ! When Toad's quiet and submissive, he's at his artfulleat. Well, I must be off. "
