The Merchant of Venice (1)

  There was once a very rich man who lived in Venice.
  His name was Antonio. He became rich by buying and selling things.

  Venice is a city near the sea, in Italy, and a lot of ships arrive there.

  Antonio owned some ships.

  The ships went to other parts of the world, and the captains of these ships bought athings in other countries.
  They did not paymuch money for these things.

  When the ships were full, the captains went to Venice and sold the goods to the people who lived there.
  They sold them for a lot more money than they had paid.   

  People who made money like this were called ’Merchants’

  Antonio was one of the richest merchants in Venice.

１日遅れまして申し訳ありません。以後、毎日続く予定です(午前5時アップ)。

シェークスピアの「ベニスの商人」物語版ですが、
(全部易しく言い換えるほど能力がないため)、
易しくリトールドしてありますが完全版ではなく、かなりのシーン＆エピソードを飛ばした簡略版となる見込みです。

しかし、それでも相当に長いので、途中で、わりと短い易しい童話を挟みたいと思います。

お詫びと新再開予定について

皆様、いつも「1日1分やさしい洋書」をご覧くださり、ありがとうございます。

18日再開予定の新物語に支障が生じまして(著作権期間を間違えました)、新たな物語の選定に予想外の時間がかかり、
空白が生じまして、申し訳ございません。

現在準備中の物語につき、
9月21日(水)までには準備が整う予定ですので、

9月21日より再開とさせていただきたく、何卒、ご了承のほど、よろしくお願い申し上げます。
なお、21日より、当分の間、毎日午前５時前後にブログ更新とさせていただきたいと思います。重ねて、宜しくお願い申し上げます。

  The horse-dealer ran away home with all the speed he could manage.

  And Earl Gerald's knights slept on.

  Suddenly he dropped the bridle he was holding with a clatter and one of the knights stirred in his slumber.

  " Has the times comes ? " groaned the knight.

  The horse-dealer was struck dumb for a moment, but fianlly he replied.
  " No, not yet. But it soon will. "
